Gökalp Alpan
Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Sabancı University (FENS)
Short bio
I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sabancı University. My research is in approximation theory and complex analysis, centered on extremal polynomials (including Chebyshev) and on orthogonal polynomials; I study their norms, zeros, and asymptotics using logarithmic potential theory—capacities, equilibrium measures, and Widom factors. Before joining Sabancı in 2022, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Uppsala University and a G.C. Evans Instructor at Rice University; I earned my Ph.D. at Bilkent University
